Gifts from the People of Maine

We have been blessed!  Blessed by the ministry of Bishop Knudsen and blessed with hope and joy as we look forward to Bishop-Elect Lane’s episcopate.  It is traditional for the people of the diocese to acknowledge these blessings with gifts.

For Bishop Knudsen

Portrait of Bishop Knudsen

It is customary to have a portrait made of the retiring Bishop.  This will hang in the Cathedral Upper Hall with portraits of Maine’s previous Bishops.

Bishop Knudsen has selected well known Maine portrait artist Ron Frontin to do her portrait.

The portrait will be unveiled on on Friday, September 12, 2008 at 5:00pm in the Upper Hall of the Cathedral.

For Bishop-Elect Lane

Pectoral Cross

Traditionally, the people of the Diocese present a new Bishop with his or her Pectoral Cross. Canon Lane has elected to use Bishop Oliver Loring’s Pectoral Cross which is being rehabilitated by Almy.
