Presentation of the Candidates: Panel Discussion
The candidates for Bishop Coadjutor visited Maine during September 21--23,
2007. (The itinerary of their public events can be found
here.) On September 23rd, a panel discussion
was held at the Hannaford Lecture Hall at the University of Southern Maine in
Portland. The video segments on this page are all from that event.
The Rt. Reverend Harold Hopkins moderated the discussion, reading questions
written by members of the audience.

Question 1
There's a House of Bishops meeting this week with the Archbishop of
Canterbury and others to discuss tensions in the Anglican Communion. What
do you hope comes out of the conversation that takes place and what do you think
of the idea of an Anglican Covenant? |

In the light of increasing plurality among religions today, and especially,
perhaps, the rise of Mohamedism (Islam), what does it mean to you when you say
"I believe in one God, the Father almighty, creator of Heaven and Earth"?

about a time when you had to make the final decision in a situation that was
controversial. |

Would you share your thoughts on or, perhaps, experience with the permanent
diaconate -- the vocational diaconate? |

Anglican Communion or an Episcopal Church that is inclusive of persons of all
non-abusive sexual orientation at all levels of its hierarchy, both clergy and

It has been said that the most stressful kind of a position is one in which a
person has a great deal of responsibility and very little authority. It
has also been said that the ordained ministry and the episcopacy in particular
are good examples of that statement. Would you reflect on that? |
